Srinagar, Sep 03 (KNO): In an extraordinary feat of endurance and determination, Sheen Amin and Adnan Bashir, both riders of MTB Kashmir, have successfully reached Umlingla Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, standing at an altitude of 19,024 feet above sea level. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the duo accomplished this remarkable journey in just five days, covering a total distance of 406 kilometers. The ride, which began in Leh, took them through some of the most challenging and scenic landscapes in the region, including Upshi, Hymai, Nyoma, Hanly and Chusmule before reaching Umlingla Pass. The last two days of the journey were particularly gruelling, with the riders navigating the difficult terrain from Hanly to Chusmule via Nurbula Pass, before making their final ascent to Umlingla Pass. Reflecting on this experience, Sheen Amin, the founder of MTB Kashmir, stated, “The last two days, especially the stretch from Hanly to Chusmule via Nurbula Pass and then on to Umlingla, were some of the most challenging moments of the expedition. But it’s in these challenges that we find the true essence of adventure. Our journey to Umlingla Pass is more than just a personal achievement; it's a step towards realizing a larger dream. My vision is to discover new cycling routes and promote the unparalleled beauty of the Kashmir and Ladakh regions. Through such expeditions, we aim to showcase these areas not only as adventure hubs but also as destinations where nature's raw beauty can be experienced up close.” With this latest achievement, Sheen Amin and Adnan Bashir hope to inspire more cyclists, both from within India and globally, to embark on their own journeys of discovery in the magnificent landscapes of Kashmir and Ladakh—(KNO)
